Is there more to life than the passing of days and the ticking of clocks? More than the air we breathe, the work we do, and the countless words we speak?
Our lives are like overflowing suitcases, packed with triumphs and trials, memories and moments. Life, in all its beautiful, stubborn complexity, brings us joy and tears, and we struggle to keep it all contained.
We often wish for more: more time, more resources, more energy. Another day off, another achievement, another slice of success. But would that be enough? Would we finally feel satisfied, whole, and complete?
In John 10:10, Jesus promises, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” He offers a life that’s full, but not in the way we often think. Not a life crowded with tasks, schedules, and endless striving, but one marked by rest, forgiveness, and peace.
Jesus invites us to lean into this kind of life, starting today. To let go of our need for more and our endless striving, and instead, find contentment in His presence.
If you have been delivered from addictions. You were enough then, you are enough now.
You survived abuse from your parent or partner. You were enough then, you are enough now.
You thought about or tried suicide. You were enough then, you are enough now.
You were so depressed the darkness seemed too thick to see a way out. You were enough then, you are enough now.
You had an abortion, you were enough then, you are enough now.
You got so frustrated with your family you yelled at them. You were enough then. You are enough now.
1 Peter 2:9 says, “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness and into wonderful light.”
In the depths of my soul, I am reminded that because He is enough, I am enough. I am called, chosen, and created with a purpose that transcends my flaws and failures. Jesus sees me in all my brokenness and whispers, “You are enough.” He gave His life for me, not because of who I am, but in spite of who I am.
Regardless of my achievements, awards, or abilities, I am enough. Not because of my accomplishments, but because He says so. I am chosen, set apart, royal, holy, and a special possession in His eyes.
When self-doubt creeps in and I feel inadequate, I am reminded that because He is enough, I am enough. When I feel unworthy, He makes me worthy. He has called me out of the darkness that once defined me and brought me into the radiant, flawless, glorious light of God, making me holy and perfect in His eyes.
Let us lift our voices in praise today. Let us praise Him for the gift of life, for the sacrifice of His death, for the power of the cross, and for the triumph of His resurrection. Let us praise Him for choosing us, for calling us by name, and for making us His own. May our hearts overflow with gratitude and adoration for the One who makes us enough.
